About Sound Therapy

“We live in a vibrational universe.”  -Teal Scott

Sound therapy is an ancient method of healing.  Modern allopathic medicine treats the physical body, what we can see and observe through empirical evidence. Ancient medical and shamanic traditions recognize the energic body, (in the form of meridians in acupuncture, for example) and treat accordingly.  Energy, emotion, thought forms, and physiology are a complex interwoven package, informing and affecting each other.. Misalignments and blockages within one body can cause manifestations in another. We are lucky to live in a time where we have access to scientific research, as well as ancient methods of healing.

As living beings, energy moves within us and without us.  Physics has proven that even solid things are constantly moving, as their atoms are always vibrating.  Singing bowl therapy uses the vibration of sound to reach whatever is out of alignment within a person’s physical and/or energetic bodies. Through vibration any part of the body or energy field that is “out of tune” gets a tune up, allowing realignment and healing to take place.

The practice of yoga is about aligning the energy body with the physical body, to reach a state of wholeness or “union-” sense of complete oneness within oneself, where energy flows freely.

Painful emotions such as grief, anger, fear, and sadness affect the physical body at the systemic and cellular level, releasing destructive hormones, creating muscle tension, and lowering immunity, paving the way for chronic or acute disease. Negative emotional and thought patterns from past programming in our lives, adverse life experiences, and unresolved trauma will continue to affect our lives and our bodies until we begin the process of healing, or we are forced into the healing process through the manifestation of a disease, relationship problems, or other issues.

The vibration of singing bowls can release physical and mental tension, dislodge emotions trapped in cellular memory, and restore the flow of energy to the chakras and meridian systems in the body.  It is an energetic tool that can bring body, mind and heart back into balance and harmony.

In a singing bowl session, you will lay down comfortably with eyes closed and be bathed in the sound of tones from singing bowls tuned to different pitches.

Shyam Nepali learned the practice of singing bowl therapy in his native Nepal, where this method of healing has been practiced for thousands of years.  His handmade singing bowls from Nepal are tuned to different pitches that work on each of the 7 chakras, and his masterful ear creates a beautifully musical and therapeutic sound bath.

Singing bowl therapy is such a beautiful practice because it allows the body to receive healing as it is ready, in whatever place it is needed.  You may experience a surge of energy as you respond to a vibration, or you may feel tears as you experience an emotional release. Each person is different every day.  We invite you to experience this powerful and ancient method of healing.
